How to join

Since 1839, Beta Theta Pi fraternity has initiated more than 200,000 men from universities throughout Canada and the United States. We are continuously expanding our brotherhood and invite you to consider making the same decision that has transformed the lives of many before you.

What is the process of joining?

The first step is simply to reach out and to say “hey, I’m interested in learning more about Beta.”  We will set up at time for an introductory chat and invite you to a series of events where you’ll meet the brothers of our fraternity and learn more about the opportunity that Beta offers. In simple terms, this is the “get to know each other” phase. During the COVID era, these events will be held primarily online, but in regular times we have lots of in-person events.

Receiving a bid

Your journey to membership at Beta Theta Pi begins with a “bid” from the chapter. This bid is an invitation for you to join the fraternity.

Learning about Beta Theta Pi

Beta Theta Pi’s New Member Program is designed to be fun and rewarding. During this six-week period, you will learn about the history and values of the fraternity, as well as how we operate. You do this alongside your fellow new members: a group you will soon call brothers.

Becoming an initiated member

The New Member Program is to provide you with a full introduction to the various aspects of the fraternity and to empower you to play a meaningful role in the chapter. After successful completion of the New Member Program, you will join the ranks as an initiated brother.

Does Beta discriminate?

Beta has a proud history of diversity and inclusion that reaches deep into our past. Amongst our membership, you will find a unique mix of men with various backgrounds and interests. We truly believe that diversity is strength and celebrate each other’s differences as much as our similarities.
While Beta expects you to be serious about school and an honest and respectful person, that’s where our discrimination begins and ends.
